9/25/13    Hello everyone!  I hope you are having a wonderfully musical new year!  The first week of Shira was spent getting to know each other, and learning about the curriculum this year.  In Sunday's introductory class, we played some silly games...

We renewed old friendships...

...and we created our "Notes" for our class Symphony Quilt.

What, exactly, is a Symphony Quilt, you may ask?  As I explained it to the students, we are all part of a symphony, with each person playing his or her own part.  We each contribute our own"notes" to whatever symphony we join (in this case, the Shira class).  "NOTE" stands for:
"Nature" (what is your own personal nature?)
"Ovation" (what have you done that might earn you an ovation?)
                   "Talent" (what are your talents?)
"Expression" (how do you express your individuality and Jewish identity?)

When a symphony works well together, all of the parts join in harmony to create wonderful music.  It's the same way with people.  When all of the students work together towards a goal, and when they do so in a safe and harmonious environment, the results can be outstanding!

Ask your child:  What is your personal "NOTE?"  Ask him or her to describe the attributes and accomplishments that are unique to your child.  You might be pleasantly surprised to hear the answers!
